Entrefashionista: Life of a CEO

Fellow Fashionistas and Stylish Gents!

The life of a CEO is extremely stressful and busy, yet I LIVE FOR IT! Check out this uber fabulous article that was recently written about yours truely:

This Bay-area bred, reformed tom-boy, and self-proclaimed “Entrefashionista,” has forever changed the face of fashion in Atlanta. Inspired by her distinctive sense of style and love all things unique, Layla K. traded in her journalism degree for a degree in design and merchandising. Determined to separate herself from the redundancy of carbon-copy “fashion,” (I use the term loosely) she began her career as a gifted couture designer. Layla K. has since put down her pin cushion to focus on the production aspects of the industry, and she has made the transition from designer to CEO of Haute.lanta Fashion Week®, The Official Fashion Week of Atlanta, seamlessly.

Backstage Chaos

Having been in attendance at the First Annual Haute.lanta Fashion Week® myself in 2007, I was curious about what prompted Layla K. to bring the event to Atlanta. Sparked by a late night epiphany, just two days after arriving in the city, in July of 2006, she immediately set her sights on making her vision a reality. Now entering its third year, Haute.lanta Fashion Week® has been an overwhelming success. They say that “imitation is the sincerest form of flattery,” but we beg to differ. Spawning a serious of “Knock-off” events, Blush & Bashful recognizes that there can only be one original! “Fakes are never in Fashion.”

Layla K. promises the event will continue to be “bigger and better” than the years prior. Not ready to reveal any secrets about this year’s event just yet, be sure to check back with Blush & Bashful for event updates as the Third Annual Haute.lanta Fashion Week approaches and I’ll be covering the event live from Atlanta Thursday-Sunday, September 17th-20th, 2009.

Kouture® a Private Label Couture Collection, Creator of Madame De Jour® Luxury Bath & Beauty Line, Director of the MTM (Model and Talent Management) Agency of Atlanta and CEO of Digital Doll Graphic Artistry & Creative Design.

I had to ask, “How do you possibly find the time?” The answer, lists, lots of to-do lists! With the help of a full staff of interns and volunteers, Layla K. explains that she takes it one day at a time. The idea of free time isn’t something she gets to entertain often, but on the rare occasion she has a moment for herself, she remains focused on fashion, an admitted addict of the buy/sell/trade industry, she is a lover of thrift shopping and the “treasure hunt” involved; retail therapy at its finest!

>>So, what are the 2 Shades of Layla K.? Creativity and remaining humble.
By design Layla K. is creative. The fabric of her success, creativity, guarantees that she will continue to be truly avant-garde in the fashion world. Despite her success, she recognizes the importance of remaining humble. Having been truly tested, she acknowledges that she is being prepared for even greater things to come.
Famed designer, Yves Saint Laurent, declared that “Fashion fades, style is eternal.” Blush & Bashful believes Layla K. is the quintessential portrait of style.
Because there are 2 Shades to every woman…
